— A yoga based artistic photoshoot. It was a perfect project to feel that sense of creativity once again after the horrible 18 months the world has been through during the pandemic. Yoga is one of my greatest loves. I try to practice at least 5 days a week or more. When i went to my first yoga class seven or eight years ago i immediately fell in love. The challenge, the physicality, the sweat, the frustration, using your breath — it was all so hard and still is to this day but I love it and it keeps me sane and I felt a shift in that very first class and i continue to feel it. People that practice yoga and have that special talent for it have always fascinated me, and Krystina is one of those people. The geometric shapes these athletes can put their bodies into and the way light blasts through intertwining arms and legs creating perfect angles and shadows. It’s like architecture in motion. I started pursuing a yoga shoot as a personal project over a year ago with a different model/yoga instructor. We had a shoot scheduled on two different occasions and i was so excited but both shoots fell through the night before with the same model. I had literally written the shoot off thinking i would not find the right person, but then Krystina and I reconnected after I had not seen her for about two years. A few weeks later I told her about my project and asked her if she would be interested and she said yes! Within a couple weeks we were shooting at a remote location deep in the canyons of West Malibu. I love the images and I love feeling creatively refreshed. I hope you enjoy the images like I do and enjoy Krystina’s amazing ability to put her body in perfectly symmetrical and beautiful shapes. This series was shot on medium format film. I’m hoping to make this an ongoing project with other yoga models. Easier said than done but that’s what I hope to do.
